Stage 1 of the imprint project is about to begin

I will be creating and compiling small works reflecting my own thoughts on imprinting.  I will also be recording these works on a daily basis on my blog and asking blog followers participate by adding their reflections.

MAKE A CONTRIBUTION - COMMENT

The work will then be exhibited at GALLERY RED  in September in a group exhibition entitled 31 Days: Blur the Lines.
31 DAYS: BLUR THE LINES
The concept behind the exhibition is to acknowledge and recognise the daily practice necessary to  develop ideas when creating artworks. 31 days pays homage to this process by providing strict criteria around which work is created. July 1st – 31st marks the creation period, August is used to frame and mount works for display and September is when the work is made available to the public in a group exhibition.
The project requires each artist to produce one small work per day from July 1 to July 31, 2013.  Each work, or the body of work as a whole, is to be an exploration of or have a connection to, the  exhibition theme of Blur the LinesTheme: 31 Days is an exhibition about the artistic process, the ebb and flow of ideas and the resultant daily  outcomes. This year’s theme, Blur the Lines reflects the interlude between the process and the final artwork. Blur the Lines refers to the loss of sight and the overlap of days as the ideas of one day bleed into the next, influencing and evolving the work until it becomes clear and reaches a resolution.
Stage 2 of the project is a call out for contributions of all forms of needlework, confined to a 5 cm square piece of fabric, responding to the question: What traditions, beliefs, attitudes or values were instilled in you as a child or adolescent? Contributions will be stitched on to calico shop mannequins. The mannequins will form an art installation.  The first call out was made on this blog and Facebook page on 15 June 2013.
